Took the R30 out for a blast today, first time i've ridden it this year really.

Met a Hornet on the way home, and gave chase when he decided to bugger off at speed.

This meant wringing the neck out of the thing and got it to nearly the redline in top (at speeds approaching 100mph Laughing )

Bit of stuttering pulling up to those speeds, but nothing untoward. Then on the second run up to the redline, full throttle in top the bike dies like its run out of fuel. I flicked the taps to reserve just in case fuel consumption went nuclear at high revs but there is plenty in there. It didn't come back.

So spluttered to a halt at the side of the road, did the usual jiggling about for a while, and it came back, but took longer than usual for a run out of fuel thing.

Ran fine again, did another few miles I tried it flat out again, ran for a while flat out, then spluttered itself out of fuel. Again had to jiggle it around, and lots of cranking and waiting and eventually it came back and ran fine, was nearly home at this point.

Any ideas?

It cannot seem to supply the fuel needed at those engine/road speeds, but to my mind that should prevent it getting there in the first place, rather than getting there and not being able to sustain it.

It could possibly be a breathing issue also, or fuel filter?

I may be wrong. Would very much like your thoughts, i've never fiddled about with fuelling changes in depth.

It is widely reported that the R30 is set up pants from the factory, but I cannot be doing with the chimps over at the CCM forum.

Sounds like a blocked breather to me. Next time it happens, open the fuel cap and see if there is a sucking/air rushing noise and then see if the problem has gone away.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Firstly is it standard?

Mine had a 'gforce' system and had been fuelled wrong. Check what jets you have in and work from there. The guy on the phone at https://www.ccmspares.com/ sorted me out with a load of jets cheap. apart from that I'd check your breather/fuel filter and that your main jets are fully clear.

I had similar problems with my BMW (bike). My guess was that one way or another, possibly the fuel filters, the flow of fuel was being restricted.
Trying to go flat out on most bikes is going to start using lots of fuel - so it can get up to speed and maybe sustain it for a bit, but it'll be draining the float bowl, with the fuel coming through not being able to top it up quickly enough for the sustained drain.
