Getting it running
Well i bought a CG a while ago then i wrote off the FZR forcing me to start my CG project early, All was fine untill i started looking at it propperly, snipped wires, missing bits, dodgy rear mudguard, you know the deal, propper bodge job.
It used to start, but then the plug died, so now i have to get it all sorted in one go as the job wasnt as easy as i thought, ow well.

How to bodge yourself a rear mudguard after the previous owner binned the attachment that is a grab rail... Pics to come.

And the choke lever is: Up = on & Down = off. Embarassed

Great, keep an eye on this thread but i dunno how fast or slow it will take till i complete the process.
List of things to do,
LED Bulbs,
New CG front end,
Seat to be converted to hump,
Get a suitable rear mudguard,
Drop bars,
Renthal grips,
Hide ignition and get rid of idiot lights,
Fit a nice speedo,
Mod a chain guard,
Paint,
Tune engine (have some info on how to),
and much more.
BUT first lets get it on the road eh? Sad

Will there be any point tuning a CG engine? How much more power do you think you can get out of it?

Will be interesting to hear what you have planned for the engine, just in case I wanna do similar (if I now go down the CG route and not a CB twin like my other thread...)

Not much of an update really, still not road worthy but runs sweet as a nut, starts first kick as it should, just have to wait and see if it will pass its MOT with the 1.7mm tyre, might order one anyway so its out the way.
Fitted a 35w halogen as the normal bulbs wont fit because the headlamp isnt off a CG. ahh well.
No pics yet sorry will post them asap.
Thanks for looking, as for engine tuning you will be enthrilled with how easy it is.

on my 85, with its 2.5 amp battery, its good to run up to 30/35 in the headlight, but i also have a 21w reversing lamp on the front rigged into the pilot system so you may be able to go for a bit more.

You cant abuse a CG, its impossible, almost like sexually abusing a female boxer...
Anyway, got the brackets made up, well 2 out of 4 aint bad.
Heres one:
https://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2008%5C04%5C23%5Cbikepics-1263515-800.jpg
I Got the correct bulb, well kinda, its sposed to be a normal bulb not a halogen but after the previous owner binned the connectors i've had to make do.
There you go girls, 2 pics Surprised !!!
Thanks for looking.

All the wiring has been disconnected, due to the fact i'm going to wire it all up then tidy it up as its a complete mess behind the light. The forks are off a CB125 with the front cable disc brake, so they will be sold on ebay and replaced with a CG125 set with hydraulic brake set up as i hate drum front brakes.
once all this is done i'll be using it while i repair the FZR then ride em both then probably sell them both, if not keep em and do them up as projects. So that means the cafe racer might still be on the go.

What, are you considering not Cafe-ing it? Do it! You know it makes sense.

Saw this one on ebay a little while back, auction finished a few weeks ago but didn't post it at the time:

The pics are a bit shite but it looks like a nice attempt, based on a '96 model.

Have you any colour scheme ideas for it yet Wolfie?

ignition? the second pic shows that it hasn't got a keyhole, and the first shows that the battery is on the other side of that bit of board.

Interestingly the original model CGs had their key ignition in a similar place.
