As most of you know I have a 1998 XR400 with a few trick bits on... has been a great bike for me, suprisingly fast, will pull through everything and has been pretty damn reliable bar a head gasket...

So anyway, I decided I liked off road enough to stick at it so bought myself a racier newer Yamaha WR426F.. happy days Thumbs Up

I intended to sell the XR as I have no real use for it now and want the money towards my house deposit... however about the same time I bought the WR the XR has started making a tapping noise from the top end... Rolling Eyes

It runs and rides absolutely fine, a mechanic friend has stripped most the engine and can't find anything wrong... I've replaced the clutch guide as it was a bit worn, had the auto decomp system removed and changed the oil.. it sounds fine EXCEPT for the tapping noise...

It's now taking up space in my garage as three bikes in a single car garage doesn't leave much room so I need to get rid of it.

I am fairly confident it'd ride for many many more miles without problems, but I don't expect anyone would want to buy it hearing the rattle.... Rolling Eyes sooo...... do I stick it on ebay for about £800 no reserve stating that it rattles but rides fine and see if it sells? or should I break it??? IT has a fair few trick bits and I think I'd probably get more than £800 for it all if I'm patient... I'd rather sell it as one though to be honest!

It's more annoying because I'm not convinced anythings wrong with it!

Here's the vid.. showed it to local Honda dealer and they reckoned it sounded "normal" ... haha.

Bike has a 440 kit, mikuni pumper carb, full FMF exhaust, excel rims, talon front hub, TAg T2 fat bars and Magura risers, newer red plastics from later model inc. tank, gripper seat, WP rear shock etc...

I thought it was the pipe too but replaced the gaskets this week and it's made no difference...unless there's a hole in the pipe I've not spotted anyway!
