Suggestions for free web design software?

Not for me - I've been using vim mostly recently (not out of choice).
However for relative web novices, but I want it to not produce too horrible code.

Bit out of touch with this sort of thing and half the things out there are probably adware laden scams .

The stuff you pay for is God-awful enough. I can't see as how free software would do it any better.

https://kompozer.net/ if you mean a WYSIWYG editor? It's a fork of NVU which is more up to date.

I'd go with the Kompozer.
It does the job although there's a bit of a learning curve.
Only thing is I like the portable version that I can run from a USB memory stick.

Yes, it's for non-technical people to do basic wysiwyg stuff.

I'm not sure what you want really, but this may be worth a look.

You use it to make websites, but I dont think you have access to the code really. Very novice friendly though.
