I already have my main summer tour planned for this year, but i was thinking of taking a little 9 day break late August early September.

My lady friend has her heart set on Ireland, and since i'm half Irish and have never been there i thought it might be interesting.

Its weird I know a lot more about continental Europe than I do about the place where half my family are from. I don't know anything about Ireland.

What is there to see or do?

Any route suggestions for a 9 day tour?

How expensive is it?

What are the roads like?

There's no problem with yellow plates we're very welcoming over here.

I'd say get out of dublin head down to wexford for a night then cork and from there there's wonderful coastal roads/villages/towns/pubs all the way round to galway which is only 3 hours from dublin to make your way home.

It's quite expensive alright.
I'm 20 yrs in the british merchant navy and the sterling wage is killing me nowadays

Back roads poor, main roads thanx to the EU are good.
Locals friendly and welcoming especially to bikers
Weather warm but wet so be prepared for rain
Scenery lovely especially away from Dublin
Nightlife great country pubs
Bit expensive though
Have fun

Feel free to come up north too, Giants causeway is a major attraction lol, I haven't been since I was tiny so I don't remember how good it is.

Close by is Bushmills, the oldest whiskey distillery from what I remember. They do tours and that.

You could always head to a gaeltacht area for a bit of a change, although don't expect to understand anything lol.

Mournes are nice as well, great scenery and plenty of good costal and mountain roads.

Id say also go to Warrenpoint, it's singally the best place on Earth. lol

You could always stick up a post on biker.ie...it's a really busy forum and you'd get a whole rake of info about what good biking roads there are in the republic

I tore about the wicklow mountains a few times when I was living down there, lovely spot Thumbs Up

I was down at Rosslare last week and diesel [didn't look at petrol, we were in the van] was 1.11 euro, that works out about a £1/litre ... so petrol should be a wee bit cheaper!
