Transfering a Private Plate from my car to bike.....

Ok...so I've got a private plate on my car.I shall be selling said car next year so I thought about transferring the plate to my next bike that I'm getting soon.

I know its something like £80(ish) to transfer and I know its possible from car to bike ...but what reg number will my car get? And will I have to pay another £80 to get a reg transfered to it?

Or does it revert back to the reg number that was on before my private plate?

Looked everywhere on the net and it doesn't say anywhere.

It should just be the one fee, but there's something you should check before you do it.

There used to be a sneaky little rule along the lines that you can transfer from car to bike, but not back again, so you're stuck with the plate on a bike.

Give your local office a call for advice, it might be easier to put your plate on retention, which costs the same initially, then about £25 a year to renew, for as long as you like.

I quite like the idea of a personalised plate on a bike for some reason.

Appeals more than a car plate anyway
