I'm looking at going on a 1 week tour through Europe on the bike probably on my own this year as i'm now working full time so can afford it. The main place i want to go is to the Kehlsteinhaus (Eagles Nest), then other significant places from WW2. The only thing is that although i can plan a route myself, I have no idea what roads are good to take and what to avoid.

Would anyone be able to help me plan a route? Or possibly have one saved that i could alter to match my own rough route i want to take?

Cheers, Jack Thumbs Up

I like to sort/plan my trips myself. I start by finding a mid point that I want to get to. I find that the journey out is better than the one home, so, the return leg takes a lot less time and I tend to do longer distances that way.
Divide all that by the number of days that you are travelling looking at stopping points, things you want to see and overnight points.
On A/B roads average 40/50 MPH. Add 1-2 hours for sightseeing.
Now join up the dots looking for twisting roads, roads marked as scenic and ones that generally look interesting.
Remember its a holiday not an indurance test so dont aim to spend too long travelling, an 8 hour day planned could end up at 10-12 hours and after a few of these you will find the trip hard work with no rests.

The Michelin maps show a green line along scenic 'tourist routes'.
If you are camping or going out of peak season - not booked ahead, half the fun is just pootling with a rather vague plan as to where you are going and when you'll get there.

There isn't much fun hurtling down dual carriageway and motorway, but agree with previous post, sometimes when you are heading home it's what you want to do.

Western Europe really isn't very big.
If you wanted you could be in southern Germany in one long day from the Channel.
