I've been offered a Toshiba laptop very cheap, it's a couple of years old but there's nothing wrong with it. The only problem is nobody can remember the DOS password for it so it can't be used, hence it's been offered to me cheap.

Do any of you know how to bypass the DOS password or is there a Toshiba admin password that'll allow me to boot up the machine and turn the password request off?

Cheers

James

If you mean the BIOS Boot password, then all you need to do is disconnect from the mains, remove the battery, and find the CMOS battery (a small watch type battery) and unplug it for about 15-20 minutes. Don't know where it is on a Tosiba but on my last Dell it was under the keyboard.

You'll be asked after you then turn it all back on if you want to reset the BIOS or something like that. Tell it yes Smile

You're right, I did mean the BIOS password.

Many thanks for your help. I'll give it a try.

Well theres a couple of buttons you press on startup and it clears the CMOS settings including the password, do a net search for it.
