Is that correct for GMT+1? I'll be driving to a lake in Lancashire between 7am and 9am, so 5 live will be keeping me company!

I am so far a bit surprised about McLaren. If the cars are identical, is lewis only faster because he's more used to the car and the team, or is he simply a much better driver than jenson?

Anyway, I'll be patriotic and be routing for the both of them.

Theres no way I'm getting up for 7am to watch a crap race. I'll catch the highlights and moan about it then. What time in Australia does the race kick off then. Can they not do it a few hours later.

I'll be up to watch the race (and probably the qualifying too). It had better finish by 09:30 though as I have to leave for the airport then.

I really hope things improve over the last race, but I have a horrible feeling that this season is going to become processional. I don't think that there was a single overtake on the track that wasn't due to a mechanical problem Sad

Hamilton got overtaken at the beginning because he couldn't out brake someone, which was a really silly drivers mistake. Otherwise, he would have been third from the beginning I think? He said he had a good chance to catch up to the Ferrari's if so anyway.

That's what most of the drivers said in the interviews, 1st lap is the very best chance to overtake someone because it's manic, tires aren't warm properly, everyone is heavy etc.

How exciting Confused

Who is 'Paul Di Resta' that is driving for Force India?
They have a union jack next to his name, is that right?

Edit just googled him and he is British, well Scottish if he doesn't do well Wink

He is indeed Scottish, if I am not mistaken he is some relation to Dario Franchitti who is an Indy driver (quite good at it too).

As far as I know he is the test driver for Force India and they have said that he will drive some of the Friday testing during the season to get him used to the cars.

What's patriotic about supporting a driver who lives in Switzerland (Hamilton) and a driver who lives in Monaco (Button)?

Both born and bred here, and both race for McLaren, basically a british team (I think the factory is in surry somewhere?) Rolling Eyes

That is the most exciting race I have seen since avidly following Forumla One. That was fantastic.

If Lewis actually had of managed a couple more over takes it would have been spectacular. Even with a set of fresh tires the aerodynamically dirty air from the Ferrari's in front stopped him? That right there is the problem with the sport. Take out that issue and we'd have this race repeated so many times with the better drivers really doing the business.

So happy for McLaren. Mr. Green

Everyone is going to be banging on about Hamilton, but today was a show of pure class by Mr Button, people kept writing him off last year, putting it down to the team he was with as to why he won the world championship.

HE made the call on coming in early for the change of tyres, he played chicken and he won. He is a smart driver and sometimes racing isn't all about who is the fastest on a sunny day, it involves a great deal of intelligence. Jenson obviously has a great feel for grip and felt slicks were to be more beneficial. To then go the whole race and keep setting PB's on tyres that did over 50 laps is nothing short of sensational.

As for Lewis, throwing his toys out of the pram when things started to go a little bit pear shaped towards the end of the race. Couldn't he have made a bold decision like Button and stayed out for the rest of the race? If anything his tyres were graining a lot more than Buttons at the point when he pitted. He has an aggressive driving style, he was constantly dipping and diving about trying to pass Ferrari's and Kubica, Button was sitting pretty inbetween Kubica and Vettel, so was able to preserve his tyres better than Hamilton.

I really want Hamilton to do well, he is a top quality driver, the overtake on the chicane past Rosberg (I think) was nothing short of world class, one of the best manouveres I have seen for a long while. Yet he is still completely lacking in maturity, and that is not even taking his off-track antics into account.

As for M Schumacher, didn't look like the superstar of old after being held up by Algeusari (sp?), may turn out to be a drab of a comeback this season.

Unsung hero of the day: - Robert Kubica.

Well done Button. Thumbs Up
