I`m sure this subject has been covered before..... but my pc throws a wobbly when i try to use the search facility!

what i would like to know is, what are the best maps for touring britain (read East Anglia)
i am looking for lots of detail, ie road names, camp sites, tourist route recommendations? possibly, service stations, ect, ect.

i have some A-to-Z maps of Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex and these are great if you are in the main towns, but not a lot of good anywhere else.
they are good for street names, but out of the main towns not all roads are listed/printed.
also these atlas`s are a bit bulky for a small bike that i need to save weight on where-ever i can.

i have Tom-Tom that i am going to rig up on my bike so they would only be a back up.

so what do you lot recommend?... thank for your help in advance Thumbs Up

I wouldn't recommend the Motrax World's Strongest Map while it seems to hold the rain off ok, my Dad managed to spill meths or petrol on it and has since made some of the pages lose their print Thumbs Down Also not enough detail in my eyes Thumbs Down

I like the AA Road maps in the 1:200000 scale. You get a good amount of detail, and they're good for picking out the good roads from.

I've had a couple of A5 sized spiral bound AA maps for the UK and they've all held out well. None were these bike specific uber strong (supposedly) ones but tucked in a tank bag clear pocket they are fine.
I like the AZ ones though (the ones with the big red and blue AZ on them Razz ) they usually have a road atlas and regional one too.
