Alternator fun and games

Took the van for its MOT yesterday and then picked my friend Yvette up for dinner with the school staff in a restaurant. noticed I was having problems with charging and by the time we got to the meal my battery was dead. Recovered by the RAC who loaned me a fresh battery and followed me home. I have a full weekend of sport and need the van to move both me and the bike around, I woke at 5 this morning knowing I had no chance of getting it fixed on Good Friday. A couple of calls to recommended garages told me that they were shut, as a last resort I took a walk around the corner to the very dodgy looking Pakistani "Auto Centre" half hour latter it was up on the ramps and the very nice Hungarian mechanic had my alternator off. I picked her up at 7 tonight, cost £160 plus a tenner tip to the mechanic.

Not very uncommon, you should know that living in Birmingham. Muslims don't celebrate Easter so they never close, my mechanic is the same as all his staff are foreign too.
