My last few phones have been WinMo, the current being a modified X1i. It's actually a nice piece of kit and still generally usable but after two years of abuse and hard wear it's starting to glitch on occasion and it's becoming apparent it will need replacing in the next few months.

My eye has been specifically grabbed by the X10, on paper the spec is nice (other than the fact the release ROM is 1.6, soon to be updated though) but I have no experience of Android at all. How useful is the "Remote RDP" app? What sort of GPS software is available? I've been using TomTom for years. I've had a look at the Google Navigation software that's arriving with the updated OS and whilst it's a lovely idea I'm not keen on requiring a connection to navigate from (although the cached route is a nice touch).

Basically I'm looking for feedback from current users of the OS, quirks? Reliability? Decent app support?

ive converted to android.
cant comment on any specific gps apps as i use google mostly.

the OS is fantastic and a welcome change of direction from winmo.

there are lots of apps out there, some good some bad. check a selection out at https://www.android.com/market/ .

remote rdp works as youd expect and there are a few similar apps to choose from.

A random update for all those who really don't care.

I went with the HTC Desire in the end. Liking Android very much. A bit of a learning curve but it's stable and extremely fast (although the processor could have something to do with the speed).
