Category B Insurance Write Off - the vehicle must not be used again but non- structural and roadworthy parts and components may be recovered for use in other vehicles. Care must be taken to ensure that they are not critical components with important safety functions.

If you feel it is safe and you could afford to repair it to use it as a track bike yes!

Bloody hell quick replies lol thanks guys Very Happy to be honest i loved the bike and all it needs is a few bits to get it up and running

A Petrol tank that dosn't have a 6 inch cut in it
Radiator
Coolant bottle
Water cooler cover
Handlebar
A Footpeg
Plastics

I bought the bike for £3,045 in January 09 and the engineer valued the pre accident value at £3,400 with £170 salvage costs, so im pretty chuffed as you can imagine Mr. Green

Thanks again guys much appreciated.

Strange they Cat B'd it. Normally a Cat B indicates that the body ( or frame in this case ) is unsafe for re-use. Personally I'd ask them why they felt it was Cat B and not Cat C ( B's should be scrapped but usually have useable parts on, C's can be returned to road). If the frame is definitely undamaged then no reason can't use it as a track bike.

It's all a bit fuzzy - I've seen a small scratch on the frame mean that it's a Cat B, or just the assessor ask do you want Cat B or Cat C?

Well when i got it picked up took it home i could see the subframe was tilted but i didnt have a really good look like under the plastics as i was on crutches at the time , so im guessing thats why the decided it was a Category B. Il have a closer look when i get it back.

If not ive seen straighter frames for my bike on ebay for £100
