Who's the better nerdy presenter?

Massive engines and the likes or toy story?

I find May so bland and he comes across as being bored with the muttering of 'its pathetic' gracing his lips too often. Barrie has quite a natural enthusiam for his topic.

Smeg head FTW

If I wanted to be taught about technology or detailed processes, I'd go for May even if he does look and sound like my high school physics teacher.

Anything to do with engines, or engineering etc, it has to be Chris Barrie.

Over all, Chris Barrie gets my vote Thumbs Up

I find chris barrie a bit too nerdy and annoying.

James May is more pleasant and a decent chap, although a bit daft sometimes.

Nooo that's too hard a call.

I do like James May, but he is a bit of a teacher type, I always imagine his jacket elbows to have those leather patches on...

Chris Barrie is funny, but reminds me a bit of Kenneth Williams, the way he sometimes talks through his nose.

Sorry, I'm gonna sit on the fence with this one. Cool

I have to say i like james may more. I find his shows interesting, but he does like to control, like when he did his series back along and they did the giant spitfire.

chriss barrie on the other hand likes his machinery on a big scale i like it but there are many other programs just the same.

It's a bit apples and oranges.

Chris Barry is more about Britain's mechanical heritage, James May on the other hand is a quintessentially British presenter but covers the wider aspects of technologies.

In short, they do different things and do them damned well.

I reckon Chris Barrie would win in a fight because he looks a bit more ruthless, and May is more of a nice chap.

Chris Barrie is NOT the best nerdy TV presenter who used to appear on red dwarf.

Robert Llewellyn for the win.

good point, but not sure i'd agree.

I've been trying to remember the name of the nerdy presenter i like. He cycles about a lot (complete with bicycle helmet an reflective belt thing), is thin, old and wears glasses. I think he is an actual scientist rather than just a presenter.

EDIT, its Adam Hart-Davis

As a presenter, Llewellyn wins but he would never get his hands dirty or develop a deep understanding of mechanical plant. Easily impressed (scared even) by anything large, loud or slightly dangerous.

Chris Barrie isn't as flaxible a character actor but he is 100% indulged in his techy-programmes.

May is more anal than nerdy IMO.

I dunno. He did some good work on that Hollywood science series.

However, for 100 extra nerd points, he presented several programs for the open university on quantum mechanics where I believe he may have worn a tank top.

May gets my vote... He's the only presenter on TV I don't mind listening to.

Don't get me started on hammon or clarkson...
