..I'd gone out for a ride today instead of watching a piss poor excuse for a national side get their arses handed to them by a german team with an average age of 6.

I had the offer of an all-dayer today, would of probably been 400+ miles to who know's where.

And instead I stayed in, worst decision of my life.

I went out on the bike and it was great. Only car drivers who were out were enthusiasts and old people who could be overtaken easily. Traffic was obviously very very light.

Was good fun.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I was in work dreaming of riding my bike but listening to the that absolute disgrace to England.
What pissed me off even more was that out of no where, without warning, the bastard commentator gave away the results of the F1 Grand Prix, you know, that sport that we are actually quite good at.
Pissed my evening of iplayer off.

I did post on this very subject.

I am not a sports fan, but I understand sport, I don't support any team. I often get free tickets to sporting events so I know what i'm talking about. But I tell it as I see it, I hate cheating, diving etc.

England are cr*p, I new this, they didn't stand a chance. I told my kids this (even though they were in England kits) and I went off for a great ride.

If I need cheering up after that result I can just rewatch my video of Scotland losing 1-0 to Macedonia and failing to even qualify

I take comfort in the fact that Scotland have some excuses for being shit, unlike Engerland. Tiny population, highest heart disease rate in Europe, the kids are more interested in drinking and eating anything battered with chips n cheese than play a bit of fitba'. And what decent players we have, stay in Scotland in the shitty Premier league, probably one of the worst football leagues in the world.

I was out and about in the day then again later on, as previously mentioned, only old people and enthusiasts out, saw some nice classic cars, infact I think I have some on film from the helmet cam. Got some wheelie videos done with TUG as well whilst the weather was cracking.

There was one lunatic out though, he was driving some top end merc, big silver thing on an 09 plate and he's shouting as he pulls up next to me, "Wind it up lad winnnnd it up!". He looked pissed and his wife was shouting, "Comeee onnnnnnnnnnnnnnn" from the passenger seat. I just pointed out the cameras infront of us and as the lights changed I shot ahead. Next set of lights, he'd switched lanes and was on the other side and still shouting stuff to me.

Lights changed and he wheel spins, so I held back and he shot off. I went to catch him up and he goes to turn left but then suddenly changes his mind at the last second and tries to take this sharp right corner at about 60-70mph and completely lost control, the car fishtailed everywhere from side to side and he struggled to get control of it. He shot off at this point as I slowed down thinking what a fucking lemon.

I am going to be serious for a moment here, and I hope that the English people will understand and also see my point in this.

Everytime there is a big tournament, or even a big game, the English team are expected to win it - they hype it all up so much that the pressures on the players much be immense and then wonder why they dont succeed - perhaps you are expecting too much from them.

An example of this was against Algeria when the fans started booing the players coming off the park, it was a draw after all - which still got a point. I bet you never heard any Algerian fans booing. Well done to Rooney for his retort.

Anyway, it is the commentators that really wind me up, when they go on about 1966 - look, you have won the world cup once and it was a long time ago now - so please stop going on about it and comparing the modern English national team to them. I see England today as being 'average' at most. Maybe just outside the best teams in the world - kinda like the Liverpools and Evertons of the Premiership, why can't they learn to live with that?

The difference here in Scotland, is that we know we are shit. We think a good result is a 0-0 draw with the Faroe Islands, or a 0-1 defeat to the Netherlands was not a bad result - and I am being honest here. Thats why we have street parties when we beat France by 1 lucky goal.

I must be honest and say that I like to see England doing well and actually thought before the tournament started that you would get to the Semi Finals at least, but having only won 1 game, by one goal in the World Cup (against Slovenia of all teams), surely you see my point. I work with an English guy and although he gets pissed off when England dont do well - I suspect deep down he agrees with me, although he will never admit it.

^^

Gazz, i'd totally agree with that post. They are an ok team at best, but with the pressure generated in the media, they turn into a bad team.

I know they're professional, i know they make lots of money... but at the end of the day, take all the money away and they're just a bloke. That bloke will still feel pressure, and there aren't many scenarios where it can be as bad as that.

The nearest I could liken it to is a rider sitting in BSB all year round, then every couple of years being thrown into MotoGP with a different bike and different crew.. and everyone saying he will win it, it simply wont happen.

I think the media have far too much power over that team, personally i think the attitude would be better to start with a lets see how far they get and play each game as it comes. Otherwise we some how think we will reach the final and miss all the detail on the way their..
