I took the 92 CBR trackbike for its first trackday last wednesday and all went well Thumbs Up

However the seat height is super low, as this picture demonstrates:
https://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f186/markjackson13/DSCF0491640x480.jpg
It's on the rear paddock stand and I can still flat-foot the floor and have room between my arse and the seat. The rear seat unit is one of those all-in-one fibre glass units with a foam pad stuck on it. I was going to stack up a few of those foam pads, but at around a tenner a pop it seems like a lot of money for some foam.

Has anyone added any height to a seat unit like this before? Maybe use a block of wood or something? I was thinking of getting any old bike seat off ebay and screw it to the unit Laughing

Bike looks in proportion and the shock seems fine. It handles well so I'm assuming it's that height due to the seat being sat right on the subframe, rather than having a few inches of seat between my arse and the frame Very Happy

can you not just add spacers to the brackets holding it to the subframe?

or perhaps a thicker pad? Very Happy

It sits on a mini subframe under there so i could put spacers on it, but the seat unit screws to the bellypan and raising it up would take it away from the screw hole Neutral

Why not add some other material to thicken it up - some light weight wooden slats or similar?

Or you could get some other kind of foam (ie from white goods boxes etc) if you don't mind it being a bit squidgy.

Think I'm either going to add the wood like G said or try to pad out the underneath of the seat. There's no dogbones and a longer shock would be way more expensive than just buying the foam pads Very Happy

I dont understand why you're doing this, if it only 'looks' wrong, but feels right?

Is it not quite turning in quick enough?

Could drop the forks 5/10mm.

Uncomfortable?

Ah fair. Smile

I was having a bit of a slow morning, apologies.

For my brother (6'3") on his little KR1s, we made a plate up so we could reposition the pegs - was fairly easy, and an another inch or so meant he could move so much more easily, and saved a ton on adjustable pegs. Suprisingly, didnt need to change anything (apart from a slightly extended gear selector. I think. Thinking )
