Car going to Georgia

The car that was on ebay has been sold. Two guys came had look, test drive and seemed to know a hell of a lot about 4x4's. He's left me a deposit in cash and we both have a copy of the receipt and his licence and he will be paying the rest in cash as well.

He then wants us to keep the car for about a week while he arranges things because he wants to ship it Georgia where he says it will have some work done and will be used in the mountains Shocked

Is there anything I should be weary of in terms of the sale?

If he hadent have left you a cash deposit i would be wary. Dont give them the car/keys untill you have full payment, other than that seems genuine from the way you have described it...

He's given you a deposit, you have receipts and licence(?) and he's be returning with cash in hand?

Sounds good to me. Just be wary of fake notes as always.

Slightly related... For the last couple of cars I've sold, more than half of the enquiries I had were from Eastern European blokes (Russian and Polish), and a mate sold his recently to a Pole.

Are they buying up all of our second-hand cars for some strange reason? Is that why (along with the scrappage scheme) the bottom's fallen out of the UK s/h car market..? Confused

I sold my Freelander last year (no gay car jokes - it was a green convertable too) to a Ghanian (?) couple who shipped it back over to ghana, then had it converted to LHD. seemed bazaar to me that someone would want to buy a £1500 car then spend £500 sending halfway across the world and converting it, but by the looks of things it's a lot more common than i though! They also asked me to keep hold of the car for 2 weeks whilst they organised for someone to come and pick it up as neither of them could drive, didn't mind though as they paid in full up front and i still had a car to run round in whilst looking for another!
