I bought a bike in the middle of march, another cg125, got it for a good price it was sorned at the time as it needed work.

got the registration form through today, and i went on line to SORN it and they said that im going to be charged as i didnt declare it sorned in march, but i didnt have the registration document to make it SORNed, the other guys sorn ran out in june this year, so i dont know what they are getting at.

so am i going to get charged £80 for not having the registration document in time then?

Hi

Strictly speaking yes you will get charged. SORN expires after a year OR when the bike goes to another keeper (little scam of the DVLAs to maximise their ill gotten gains). Their view is that you should go to a post office and declare SORN without waiting for the log book.

With luck you will get away with it though.

All the best

Keith

Im going to give them a ring tomorrow and see what they say, its been under a month since i bought the bike, its been in the garage all the time and the registration documents only came yesterday so i think it is a bit of extenuating circumstances, il just see what happens, might get a good response with it being Friday and all
