Some packages finally arrived this morning so what with the nice weather i thought i'd better start the overhaul of my NSR 125. Due to the joys of living in a flat in London all work was and probably will continue to be carried out on the street/pavement!

unfortunately i also found this Crying or Very sad
https://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab349/slyrob/NSR%20project/shock-mount.jpg
which is something i might have to tackle when i take on the piston rings and forks, only had 2 hours to get this done today before needing to get south of the river, so pressure was on as i have never worked on a bike before!!

now this is where it got confusing Thinking when i changed the jets i was advised by the fountain of all NSR knowledge (Alain) to move the clip between the floats to the second notch down out of 5, mine only has one notch!?!
https://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab349/slyrob/NSR%20project/carb.jpg
ah well i'll worry about that later, really annoyed that i didn't take a picture of the hole in my original exhaust! the eight individual holes i had previously repaired had joined forces and become one hole roughly the size of a mars bar Laughing
so i stuck this on insteadhttps://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab349/slyrob/NSR%20project/tyga.jpg
https://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab349/slyrob/NSR%20project/tyga2.jpg Thumbs Up going to have to make a bracket for the centre mount as it doesn't link up (exhaust from NSR 150 same chamber and rebound pulse) only got to sort out the forks, piston rings, top shock mount etc and its's done Thumbs Up might even clean it Laughing

when you took the carb out you will have unscrewed a bit from the top with a long needle in it, strip that down and you will see it has 5 notches, move the circlip to the notch alains said to Smile

ah ha thank you, I knew I must be missing something! will I kill it by not changing the float level until next weeks piston ring change? also should add that in various posts I read that getting the air box back in is a bit of an arse, if you take the filter out and pull the big air tube into the the box from the inside its a two second job.

It may run a bit lean if you don't do the needle position change. It shouldn't take very long for you to do, so it's worth it, rather than hole the piston if it's wrong (I don't have an NSR, and am not an expert, so it may be fine and just run a little funny, but would honestly be tempted to be a little cautious)

My TZR is the same, the box to carb rubber usually gets one spot that doesn't seat if you try to fit the airbox whole. I do what you've seen in previous posts and take the box apart and fit it to the rubber (that stays on the carb) then put it back together Smile

Where did you get the TYGA exhaust from mate?
I've been looking for an alternative to the standard one but don't have the money for fork out almost £300 on an arrow or gianelli.. plus that's pointless.

I've found the Honda 150sp Tyga exhaust, is it just that? Fits without needing any special work?

Cheers.

Edit: Sorry realised you say it is for the nsr 150 next to the pic.
How much did it cost mate, just the chamber etc set and the silencer comes to £90 something on the site but is there a shipping cost?

Also you say the centre mount will have to be made? could you give more detail or a pic of this, it would be much appreciated as I wont be able to do any elaborate mount but perhaps a friend could help make one if its not too complicated...

I have to admit I haven't bothered tsort a mount as it seems to be alright without it but basically the center mount hole is about 5 cm away from the mount on the bike so a small piece of steel with a hole at each end should do it, I got it from jap4 performance and it was 170 quid, however if you can wait I believe they are doing a nsr 125 specific one soon

Oh that sounds easy enough then, humm realised from the first pic you ordered from jap4performance

I was looking at the actual tyga website thats why i asked about shipping, seems they have a bit of a deal on and the parts are £90 O_o ?

Really where did you see that? I would wait if its not too far in the future

Out of interest mate, how well does that Tyga Exhaust perform?
I'm temped, does it shift the powerband at all being designed for a 150?
(Also what does it sound like Smile )
