This bike is another communal BCF bike, having belonged to both Jay12329 and MarJay.

It's got a good spec, it's got cams from a pointy model which gives slightly more power. A full micron exhaust system, k&n filter, braided hoses, maxton fork internals in pointy model forks, maxton rear spring and Pirelli supercorsas both ends.

The engine itself has done around 10k, with the chassis done about 30.

https://www.gaz-racing.co.uk/images/vehicle_962.JPG

So I paid MarJay and went down to pick her up, having only seen photos:

https://www.gaz-racing.co.uk/images/vehicle_1067.JPG

Bike's decent, it's pretty much complete, comes with a fair few spare parts, like a spanking new clutch cable and adjuster, set of brake pads and a mint petrol tank.

The bike came with a complete set of plastics although they were scuffed and broken. Not an issue, I would use them until some mint ones came along.

As we started to strap it down it became apparent that the front mudguard was fingertight. Never mind, whipped that off and drove back to Leicester.

https://www.gaz-racing.co.uk/images/vehicle_1031.JPG
My first task to get it MOT worthy was definitely to buy a legal sized numberplate. The original was laughable! The bracket that it bolted to was wider than the numberplate itself.

Then I fixed the other glaring MOT failure, which was an extremely worn rear supercorsa. So I replaced it with another supercorsa scrub.

https://www.gaz-racing.co.uk/images/vehicle_1065.JPG

I also changed that god aweful exhaust bracket, that you can see in the first picture.

https://www.gaz-racing.co.uk/images/vehicle_1064.JPG

Also changed the clutch cable and adjuster on the lever as it'd split straight down the middle.

https://www.gaz-racing.co.uk/images/vehicle_1059.JPG

With those jobs done I started to fit the bodywork in order to take it for its MOT. On my way I found a random cable poking out the side of the petrol tank. A bit of pokery worked out it was the choke cable.

I lifted the tank and found it was the choke cable for the front carb. A bit more pokery found it wasn't fitted because there was already a choke plunger seized in the carb. Balls. I tried to release it, but even grabbing it with pliers it wouldn't twist, or pull out.

So I put it all back together.

When I got to start fitting the bodywork I found that all the mounting points on the headlight were broken, and it was only held on by the bodywork, which was very shakey!

So I decided to remove everything to see the extent of the damage.

https://www.gaz-racing.co.uk/images/vehicle_1066.JPG

Sadly I then had to pronounce the headlight dead. The clocks were ok, with only one mounting bolt snapped.

So to remedy the problem of both the headlight, and the scabby bodywork I've decided to go naked and I've bought a 7" single round headlight with mounts. And some chrome mirrors and mounts to match.

For the moment I'll make some bracketry to attempt to mount the existing clocks until I find a better looking alternative. My only concern is that the faired clocks are remarkably ugly and are usually hidden by the fairing.

Apologies for the poor photos, that's my phone for you.

So I've also bought a new set of carbs to replace this front one to remedy the choke problem.

So I paid £800 for the bike, and I've spent about £100 in parts for it so far. And I expect to have it on the road for not a lot more.

Then this winter I intend to take it off the road, strip it down completely and powdercoat the frame and swingarm.

You did get me looking at Twinshack.

These fairings make me quite horny in my pants

Come my winter rebuild, I could easily be very tempted.

That is hideous.

The one I posted is correct. The one you posted is just plain wrong. In fact, its brimming over with wrongability.

The one you posted does absolutely nothing for me, other than novelty value.

The one I posted doesn't look perfect, granted, but I do like it. The chances of me actually buying it is slim, because the front fairing alone is over £300!

I liked the race fairings G has on that Orange SV. I could fit two stacked projector headlights through it with relative ease.

Or the idea I quite liked was to fit a number board with a single projector headlight in the bottom corner. So it looks like a naked race bike but would be road legal 24/7.

And of course a race spec belly pan.

£300 is cheap. Still, the curvy one is betterer.

I reckon it'd end up about £5-600 for the front fairing, tail unit, headlights and mudguard.

Then another £68 for the brackets

Then getting it sprayed.

It would look good though.

I'll see if the curvy one grows on me. Although I doubt it!

Have seen those, they are goddamn pretty!

Think fitting headlights into those would be quite difficult, but they definitely float my boat.

I reckon a headlight would be OK in those. There's a guy on ebay selling single projector headlights for £75 (clicketh) which have a flip down cutoff line (so dipped and full in one projector unit). Buy one of those, cut a hole in the front of fairing. Make a bracket that is vertical, out of metal/wood/fibreglass on the back of the nose cone. Screw the projector to said bracket, job jobbed. Then just stick a white LED somewhere on the front for the side light Laughing

That's the plan, except you can get projector headlights for £35. I'd get one high beam, one low, and fit one above the other. Ducati 749/999 style.

I could be very very tempted.

If a whole gixxer front end turned up for the right price. I'd find it hard to resist.

Especially with the fairings gone, it'd be nice to have some USD forks and big calipers to draw the focus.

How much did you but it for?

I'm on the lookout to buy an sv shortly, under £1000, but try and find one below that figure with reasonably low mileage (crash damaged is fine...). Early Sv's are well overpriced at the moment. Mad

No, it isn't.

Every single GSXR750 since 1990 has had USD forks.
