I’ve got the Halfords set and have had it for several years, unforuntaley a couple of ratchets have disappeared in that time. For £40 it’s pretty good value I’d say.

Haven’t seen any better ratchet spanners. Due to the size of the ratchet mechanism, they won’t quite fit into all the tight spots you might want, but other ratchet spanners are bigger.

The Aldi set is missing the 12mm, 15mm and 19mm from the Halfords set. However, it does look like the spanners may actually be exactly the same – I’ve seen the same ones badged from other companies too so it’s quite likely.
If they are, it’s pretty amazing value for £13 despite the useful 12mm being missed.

Typical Hellfrauds overpricing. The Aldi set look good, however 12mm is a fairly key size Sad

Compared to other places selling the same ratchets, £40 (half normal price) is still a good price and I’ve been tempted to get a second set to replace my missing 13mm.

I’ll be getting a set of the Aldi ones and report back when I do.

Good find, but I'm definitely not a fan of those flexible heads, they always flex when you don't want them to.

I much prefer the normal ratchet spanners.

Odd, I find the flexible heads are really good, especially when you're stuck in a tight spot with not much movement as it is where the ratchets become particularly useful - and so having a flexible head in some cases is the only way to be able to use it at all.
My 3/8" flexible head is my favourite wrench definitely - I'd like a through socket version (with wall drive sockets, oh and the moon on a stick!) to cope with cases where the ratchet wrench is too fat.

flexible heads are wank.
the only time ive ever thought ''this could do with a flexible head ratchet spanner'' is once... at work... on a battleship. to counterhold a nut.

if you ''need'' one on a bike, you're using the wrong tool, or not doing it properly.

I have the Halfords ones. I think the flexable heads are pretty good. I wouldn't be without them in my work. They're probably the first thing I'd buy for my toolkit. The Aldi deal looks pretty good Thumbs Up Smile
