Ok, just a few more things...

I need a new front tyre (badly- the metal is showing :O) What's the best to get? It's got an MT65 on atm. Also where should I get it, and where should I get it fitted? Somewhere in Reading preferably! Does it matter if i have a different front and back tyre also?

And I bought Bel-Ray 2stoke oil from MTC, is that any good or should I be looking at getting another?

Also my bike sometimes decides to rev itself up, any ideas why? It only happens in netural and the revs just stick around 6k.

Think that's it for now Smile Thanks

John,
Where abouts U in Reading?

Try Ride-in bike tyres, the guy who runs it is a racer and he's pretty cool...
I would also advise to only run a matched set of tyres because if you run mixed you could screw up your handling.
They're on the corner of Russell Street and Tilehurst Road

Multimap of Russell St. Tilehurst Rd.
As for the two stroke oil, I've never heard of that make, but if its fully synthetic then you should be ok.

I'm flummoxed by your third problem though... have you checked the throttle cable isn't getting caught on something?
Oh, and MTC are good... they know what they're doing.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

BT45s are usually a good bet with bikes like that. Apparantly they are the best tyres I can get for me RD Exclamation.

I generally get TTS from the bike spares shop (up the road from MTC), but any fully synth shouldn't be to bad in that.

Fully synth is a bit OTT in a 75mph AR, a decent semi synthetic like Castrol Super TT should be more than adequate.

I'm with mo - its an old slow AR125, go for semi syn oil from a known brand (rock, castrol, silkolene, putoline etc).

As for tyres, BT45s are good, but you won't notice that much difference yet - I'd say match up to whats on the back, or again just get whatever crossply the tyre guy has in stock. It is better to avoid MT65s, they are a bit shit and don't give great mileage. A good block treaded crossply is a dunlop K82.

Hi

Time to get the multimeter out and check it is charging. Guy at work has a CG125 for a bit of practice for doing his DAS. Had a look at it yesterday. With the engine running it was managing about 2V Shocked . Slight lack of water in the battery wasn't helping.

Matched tyres are the best idea, but most of the time you are not going to have major problems with unmatched ones. And I would not spend loads of 2 stroke oil, just stick to a known quality brand.

All the best

Keith

Ok, the tyre place came up with 'Cougers'

£85 Including fitting

Shall I get them or avoid them?

Thanks

BT45 would be best, but you pay for it. I'd go for pretty much anything from bridgestone, michelin, dunlop metzeler or avon. i don't rate pirellis cheap tyres. What tyre is on the back?

i have yet to test the BT45 on the rear of zaks, but judging by the tire, zak only knows how to go in a straight line.

Hi

£85 is way too much for a tyre for the AR. Mind you not sure if that is fitted to the bike as some places charge loads for that while charging very little for fitting it to a loose wheel.

Never heard of Cougers tyres, but a cheap Metzeler of those small sizes lists at around £30 in the M&P catalogue.

All the best

Keith

Hi

For 2 tyres fitted that isn't a bad price. Wish mine were that cheap!

All the best

I had Pirelli's on my KH100, never had a problem with grip in the wet or dry. In the 5,000 miles I did on them I couldn't see any visible wear either, nevermind the previous mileage on them Smile

Hi

Would go for a decent make of tyres. The difference in cost is likely to be not that great and they will be far better.

All the best
