that pan looks like the right tool for the job, i like the bag held up vertically strapped to the top box
I'd be nervous of taking a beast as big as a pan onto wet grass. How did that feel for you ? |
In that bag i had sleeping bag, blow up bed, goretex bivvi bag, camcorder, clothes for the week, camelbak, jacket, inners for bike jacket and trousers, strapped to the side of bag my tent.
Pannier 1 - stove, pot/pan set, 2xgas cannisters, knife and fork, 3xheat & eat soups, lighter, spark generator, bottle of water, waterproof matches, disc lock, chain lock, cable lock, alarm lock (for the tent), torch, led camping light
Pannier 2 - tyre pump, bed pump, spare front wheel bearings, 1l oil, brake pads, small selection of tools, bulb kit, puncture plugging kits, air cannisters, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, emergency bag and foil blanket, tyreweld, bag of fuses connectors and wire,
Top box - laptop, inverter, trainers
On top topbox - another crash helmet
Hidden somewhere only i know and only when abroad, spare alarm/immob remote, security lock keys.
Alarm would be screaming and bike partially dismantled to find the above. Saves having to try sawing a disc lock off in the middle of spain if i lose the keys.
Far too much but try to cover a lot of eventualities, the trip i take without the bits and pieces will be the day i have problems ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? No probs, cheapest is norfolkline or tunnel at £12 a go when they are in a good mood but adds extra 600 miles for me and The £40 extra is a much better choice ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? Believe me a pan euro can really handle.
a mate of mine got bored of a couple of R1 riders messing around cutting him up, around on the bends while going over the plateau south of Zafra. So he gave chase, & left em standing
Bramble, as theres loads of camp sites around Merida I`m suprised you don`t have the "archies campings" POI`s on your satnav.
theres 25K + locations for the whole of europe on there. ____________________ I accept no responsibility for swearing, drinking, motorcycle riding or your pregnant teenage daughter. |

I do annoy people on their fast bikes, especially the new ones trying to get their knee down on every bend they see as i fly past them.
Those that have never ridden one see it as an overweight sofa of a bike that can't move, can't filter and handles, just like that overweight sofa
Most of those that own one treat it like a sofa and it never gets used properly.
As a courier it does get used, flat out a lot of the time, filters fine and only get the odd problem with the width getting through the stationary traffic in cities like London and after 57 thousand miles i've done on it in the last 12 months the only issues have been replacing the front wheel bearings 3 times and rebuilding the sticky callipers 4 or 5 times... oh and a snapped throttle cable. not bad for an unreliable honda eh?
| Phoenix wrote: | So what's the idea behind the spare crash helmet? Incase you fall off and obliterate your lid? Surely that's probably likely to be the least of your worries, if you meet a spanish girl the crap on the back seat will probably be the problem. |
Met my other half who flew in for a week (and stayed for nearly 2 due to the ash ), simple as that. I know i shouldn't say it (touch wood) but apart from dropping bikes a few times at 1mph on stupid turns i've not had an off since i was 17 (thats 20 years ago) so not planning to carry a spare lid, most of the time i'm going fast enough to probably not ever need to about a lid again if i fuck it up
| Phoenix wrote: | What do you do once you're in spain, just stop in a hotel/campsite somewhere and barely move or continue to rack up several hundred a day? I like to do 500 on the first and last days and about 250-300 every other day but am toning it down this year drastically. |
Once in spain keep going, i went to Albufeira in the Algarve (portugal) got friends out there and had planned to meet other half. most the time i plan not a lot and just look out for a camp site along the way but one night i stayed in spanish hotel after not finding anything and gave up after 700 miles at 2am and another last sun night again in spain, monday i slept(ish) in bivi bag in carpark near st malo in france waiting for the ferry ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse?
