You can't go by the speedo cos they all over-read (between 10-15% I think....) So just using a stopwatch doesnt work. What about buying a Halfords pushbike speedo and fitting one of them to get some times, they're more accurate.

Hi

Saw some acceleration monitors in a car mag, but they were around £120. You can also use a GPS device, and lastly you can record the revs (from the plug lead) and calculate speed from that (but not too good from a standstill)

All the best

I'm also into the calculating acceleration time. was thinking of a bike speedo but all the one's i've ever had don't update very quickly, so you could've gone past 60 before it shows it. and with my bike acceleration it's not great to be looking down at a little screen with the throttle open!

sounds good to me, don't think i'd shell out £120 just to find it out. i was thinking of getting a pushbike spedo, or u can get them for bikes for 25 quid, could be intresting Evil or Very Mad [/i]

Dead cool, more accurate than your bike's speedo and not too pricey (for all the features, you wouldn't pay £160 just to find your 0-60 time). It does acceleration/braking timing, time-over-distance (1/4 mile etc) and a few other neat tricks. They're made for cars but will work just as well on a bike, no bigger than a box of fags.
