Taxing my witten off bike?

Hey guys.

I just got a letter through the door, and when i opened it, it was from the DVLA talking about my road tax on the CG that was recently written off (category B, according to the engineer's report)

Now the whole situation was sorted through my solicitor, and they reported back to my insurance, so why is it that a bike that can't go back on the road is still on the system as being okay and i need to buy tax for it?

My main question is, what should i do now?

the frame is damaged, so the report says it's to be stripped for parts or scrapped.

Write them a letter. Recorded delivery (cost 75p extra) and KEEP the receipt.

Hi

The category system is the insurance companies, not the DVLAs. While there is still a log book for it out there they will use that as an excuse to demand tax from you / fine you for not taxing it or SORNing it.

Ahh fair enough, i'll send them the V5 and say it's scrapped, i'm using the engine and wiring etc to put in another frame anyway
