Rest in peace RXS... We hardly knew thee!

So my rxs has well and truly bitten the dust...
Taking the barrel off to get it sent off, Turns out these are the list of problems...
1. Warped head
2. Threads for bolting on inlet manifold wrecked
3. over 6mm side to side play in the gudgeon pin
4. Piston ring gap WELL beyond limits
5. Pitson has seize marks all OVER it
6. Barrel insides are beyond repair
7. Crankcases have a crack inside that couldnt be noticed from outside


*Sigh*

So, Now I'm taking out a 700 quid loan and buying myself a C90.... I've had it with repairing bikes... A c90 should see me through at least a year of trouble free motoring...
Anyone ridden one or owned one? Whats the general opinion of these?

If you mean the Honda step-thru?.... then they are almost indestructible.
i had one many moons ago, and it was brilliant!
started every time, no matter what the weather.
just went and went and went and kept going , ect, ect

you would need to be super ham fisted to break one of those.

all i ever did to mine was top up oil & fuel and tension the chain!

That sucks. It seems like everyone is having trouble with the RXSs atm. If you were closer I might be interested in buying some parts...

Did you find this out yourself, or has some 'professional' given you a list of things supposedly wrong with yours? Sounds extremely far fetched to me, to be honest. 6mm side to side play on the gudgeon pin, for instance - could that be possible under any circumstances?

C90 Cubs are wank. Prone to burning out the exhaust valve unless you use (now hyper expensive) super unleaded. The old C90s are tough buggers, as are the 70s.

Well the Barrel and piston are definately destroyed, Both are covered in deep scores to the touch all over the inlet side.

i'd still say go for a CG..

you want bullet proof...you get it, and you dont look like a 70yr old on a C90... my dad had one.. hes ancient lol

Would be cheaper to get a whole motor. Though these seem to be getting harder to find in nice nick at a reasonable price. Been looking around myself but have started making one from my collection of bits. Not an ideal situation as most of my bits have seen a lot of active service already

i bought a c90 for a tenner off my mate, it had the fairing and everything! ragged it stupid and it never stopped going! then sold it for 20 quid result!

get an H100S2, best bike I ever had, the engine just keeps going and it lasted me 30k miles before I rebuilt the engine again and its still going strong!

That is also hitting the redline and holding it there at 9k rpm all day long on the motorway!
