Rebuilding my XT225

Right, decided to get up off my backside and try to finish off rebuilding my XT225 (finally rebuilt the forks, brakes etc..) with the intention of getting some green laning in this year.

One thing that has always caused problems for me when riding off-road bikes (due to having odd shape body, short legs & long torso) is that the handle bars have been a bit on the low side (whilst standing on the pegs).

So basically was wondering what is the best option of raising the height of the handlebars (say a couple of inches)

e.g. Should I be looking at getting a set of handlebar risers or looking at getting a new set of bars?

Also tyre wise, has anyone got any suggestions. I need a tyre that works well on mud but also needs to be capable on road as I'm likely to need to ride 30 odd miles to get to a legal byway etc..

I,ve got a set of universal 30mm bar risers you can have if l can find them, tyre wise some of the south east lot including me use the mitas co2 rear tyre as its got excellent grip and long life even on road use l got around 2k out of mine on the CRM250 plus there road legal, front tyres last ages so something like a C19 or AC10 will do.
