Honda NSR 125 Fork Seals!

Hey Guys && Girls!

First of all, Hello to everyone on BCF! I'm new to the bike scene and wanted to greet you all firstly!

Okay..

Right i have purchased a Honda NSR 125R 01 model bike from a breakers for a resortation and need a bike of advice.

The front right fork seal has gone so oil is leaking out of the shocks. I know i need to replace these but what are the general steps in doing this? Also what grade/type of oil do i need?

I was reading in another thread that Grade 15 is what i need ( So alains was saying) is this right?

Following parts:

2* Oil seals
2* Dust seals
0,280L Oil

If required:
2* clips
2* bushes
2* springs

Hi Ryan. If you're stripping the forks anyway, it might be a good idea to change he bushes. Worn bushes could be the reason why the seals went in the first place.

Should be straight forward dismantling the forks but where you might have problems is pulling the stantion and the leg apart. I usualy end up taking mine to the local workshop and getting them to pull them apart. As far as the springs go, you can measure them to see if they have lost any of their "springiness", (for want of a better word), but you'll need a manual for tthe figures. If the clips aren't too expensive it would be worth fitting new ones too, they can sometimes get out of shape when removing them.
