Hi there,
I was given a Yamaha YBR125 as a courtesy bike after some stupid woman pulled out on me it was to replace a yzf r125. ever since ive had it ive been riding like i was on a bike test (hopefully doing it early this summer) and this got me wondering as i taught my self, if i was doing things right, such as if i was on my test and slowing for a junction/light...etc is the best thing to slow via the gears then brakes or just brake and flick down as you come to a stop, i tend to hit the brakes and click down as i stop.

I thought you are meant to use engine braking as well as your brakes. Need to let the people behind know your on the brakes.

basically what i did was to do my cbt which teaches most of what you need to pass mod 1 then i just rode my 125 around for a month or so and booked my mod 1test, passed 1st time and then booked mod 2 for 8 days later (was asap). i did chicken out in the end and pay £50 for the chap i did the cbt with to give me a 2 hr lesson just before my test to polish up.
if i am honest i would have failed without this as he took me to a place where lots of fails happen and i made the same mistake as most.
i passed mod 2 1st time and felt so much more confident as it was straight after my 2 hr lesson ..
i think a lot of folk bomb around on 125's for too long on L plates picking up bad habits. i would brush up on the mod 1 bits forst and give it a go its only £15
oh and yea i was taught to let the brakes do the breaking and click down as many as needed, same as they teach in a car now
