Nurburgring photography?

Wasn't sure where to post this but figured here would be best.

I will be heading out to the ring soon with some mates (without the bike unfortunately but hey, another time!) and was wondering if anyone had taken any pictures there before. Obviously it's a lot of track to cover so I was hoping someone would know the best corners for shots and then how to get to those corners to shoot them. How close can you actually get to the track? I have a 300mm lens for my DSLR but from shooting trackdays before now I know that's not a great amount and could really use more if I had it available!

a monopod or tripod would do wonders to create a pan shot...i dnt knw much about circuits but hey it's still photography yeh? hehehe

Brünnchen is probably the best corner to spectate from, you can see a decent amount of track and there is plenty of space for parking:

Brunchen is great - you can stand where that crowd is and get people coming round the first part, or stand where that camera man is stood to get the later part of the complex.

Just a very short distance down the road (back towards Nurburg) is 'Ave It! Leap - another good place for some neat shots.

You tend to see quite a few accidents at Brünnchen too, making it a good place for photos!

I saw a car crash there once and drive straight off leaving a big puddle of oil for following cars to slip on

Luckily there weren't many bikes that day cos it was raining.

If any of your mates are going round on bikes, and haven't been round before....


Get them to head up to the Burgstube, ask for Martin - and ask him nicely if he'll give you his track brief.

He's a top bloke - any money he charges for the briefing you'll save in plastic. There's not many people locally faster round the 'ring on a bike than he is - he's got a lot of onboard footage and he can talk you through every corner.
