Bike runs for a while then cuts out

I have trouble starting my vfr, dried the plugs off, choke on and sometimes it will start... Then it will idle erratically for a while on full choke, dropping the choke at all kills the engine...

It has literally just starred doing
this right before my buyer turns up, i need to get
it runnig again soi can sell it!

Any ideas, anything?!

has bike been in storage? Likely problem is the carbs are gummed up with petrol residue, will need taking apart and cleaning

The bike had been running no problem and in use a week before.... I come back and it wont start...

Can you get a video link? I had the same issue on the girlfriends VFR, though that wasn't run over the snowy period.

I took the tank off, drained it air hosed it out, cleaned the fuel tap out and cleaned the carbs and hoses and it works as it should.

I will get something up on YouTube if my next move doesn't work...

I'm not too confident with taking the carbs apart so I am going to buy some of that cleaner spray and spray that in the relevan places...

The garage told me they did something similar when I had the not done, previously was a non runner.

Any advice with the spray anyone?

No it wont damage it at all, just spray it on then clean it up, then rinse with some fresh fuel, then run the engine. Wink

Keep us updated if you find anything abnormal.

So I can just spray this into the pots at the top of the engine...?

Okay, opened the bike up and sprayed into the top of theengine, also sprelayed into the fuel lines that go directly into the carbs..

Turned it over and it started with minimal choke!

Ran for a while but slowly the revs dropped until it cut out, tried to start again but no joy... Repeated above process which worked again... Then te same happened, cut out after a while.

I have sprayed a considerable amount in again and left it like that, hopefully tomorrow it would have cleaned it out.

The fuel itself is fresh unleaded... Its also the same fuel that was in the bike when it last ran OK which was last week.

I'm hoping its just gumming up and not something serious, got stuck in Amsterdam because of the volcano and need the money!!

You say the top of the engine, where are you spraying it? Also, I would advise you to take the parts off to clean them, if you can, as the gunk has to go somewhere, and if you leave it on it will end up in the engine.

Also, take the fuel tap off, as when I did this it was full of rubbish.

I started it up this morning, ran no problem! for as long as i wanted it to!

I had it idling for about 20 mins, warming it up with easy revs then back down to idle. Didnt cut out once! Actually runs smoother than it did originally.
