I've still got the stock Dunlop Qualifiers on my R6. I have been told by loads of people they are shocking and I proved that to myself today.

Went out to meet a mate on his SV650 and we pissed around on this roundabout. Got some pictures. I have managed to KD on the R6 with the Dunlops before, but not for very long. Thought it was just me , but today I could only get close Sad. Tyres were sqwirming and front feeling like it was going to fold.

So I jumped onto my mates SV650 with Michelin 2CT's and bang out KD all the way around the roundabout several times.

The 2CT's felt really firm and I was laughing to myself how much easier it felt.

Gotta get the tyres changed.

Fail Dunlops

Funny, I can quite happily get my knee down on my Tl1000r with qualifiers on. I guess different bikes suit different tyres!

OEM Dunlops are a very different kettle of fish from aftermarket Dunlops.

Pretty much everyone who has OEM Dunlops slates them, pretty much everyone who has aftermarket Dunlops loves them.

Personally, i've always used Dunlops on my Gixers and love them. However, i rode a mate's Gixer when he still had the OEMs fitted and they were pretty awful.

There is such a roundabout near me, in Lordshill, Southampton...I have seen that Louise and friends have been up to play and take photos of each other hooning around it in recent times. Thumbs Up

FYI, I have Dunlop 207's on my sv, and I had mucho confidence in them. They made cornering a delight.

The japanese Dunlops that come as OEM equipment are different to the Dunlops that you buy in this country. Wink

I have heard the OEM's are different from the ones you would fit.

How annoying.

Its just been very interesting for me. They have never felt that good, but I always thought they were not bad when up to temperature. Put the rest down to confidence. This really showed how shit they were though.

There's a big island in between Wednesbury and Bilston that's bang on for knee downs, still haven't got there though as I forget about it until a thread like this comes up with pictures...

the pegs are pretty high on your r6, as is the seat, its possible that it can lean over more, but takes more lean to get your knee down

I'd tend to agree, getting a recent sports 6 to knee down does require one of the following;

> One hell of an amount of lean
> Hanging off like a total monkey

I tend to find letting tyre pressures down a bit makes them a bit more manageable at lowish/most road speeds. Obviously the faster you get (not normally legal speeds), the more the setup comes into play. For roundabout surfing though i've found lower pressure can help, might just be me though...

Sports 125:

https://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs231.snc1/7817_134471681370_544131370_3057312_5518997_n.jpg

Hanging off like a monkey, want some better tyres on the SV, got BT010 on at the moment I think?

Also, that 125 picture, I was on the edge of the tyre, no strips whatsoever so no more lean could be had.

this sounds correct, as Matt lent off more on the SV and got KD where as i KD'd and didn't lean off as much.

And yes it was an excuse, pic whore

I was leaning about as much as I was on SV when I had my KD on the R6. For me it 'felt' the same. Only difference was I was scraping my boot at times because of lower pegs on the SV.

Body position can be altered anyway. And lean angle. What I am talking about is feel. My tyres on the R6 feel terrible compared.

Chris, you were leaning off the bike the same but your foot was better placed. Pretty sure my lean angle was higher for longer anyway as you only touched for a second.

Better pic

But then the tyres will be nicely warmed up by the time I get there Thumbs Up Laughing

I tend to disagree.

I have found that the pegs being higher just means that my boots don't scrape the floor as easily.
