Hi,

How good is a Honda Super Blackbird for, mileage wise?

I have seen one I am interested in that is immaculate with FSH and 38000 miles on the clock.

Does this seem a bit high for a 2000 (W) plate?

thanks

They do get used for big miles, so that's not much really. Mines a 2k and it's got about 45 on it, and it's been abused to fuck, and it's not given me a moments concern.

A lad over on BIRD has just flogged his 100k - 1998 Bird for a newer one, and it was still in fine shape having had nothing but it's regular work done.

There are legends of a couple of 250k examples... but I don't know how true they are.

Not really. That's around 4000 miles per year. Not much for a lardy tourer.

Nah most Hondas are good for huge miles, bikes can handle a lot more than we have got used to thinking - there are so many weekend use only bikes on the market that many people consider a 20k bike to be high mileage.

With regular maintenence most bikes will be crashed well before they have too many miles Thumbs Up .

As long as it has a half decent history/ you know it's been well cared for it's not an issue.

Like the others are saying, they are bulletproof providing they are serviced now and again. My 2002 one has only 20k on it and its never missed a beat and i doubt it will.

Blackbirds have a VERY durable engine. They can take massive amounts of abuse. If it sounds ok then it's a good 'un.

The Clutches tend to knock a bit though which can sound a bit disturbing if you're used to quiet motors, but that's just how they are so I wouldn't worry about it. It shuts up when you pull the clutch lever in.
