Hi , i currently have a Yamaha RXS100 showing symptoms of oil seals that need to be replaced. I can get them changed for £40 , providing the engine doesnt have to be taken out , can anyone help me and tell me weather or not the engine needs to come out for this to be done? Any help would be much appricated as I am comming to sell the bike after much thought of weather to keep it or not , I have decided it would be pointless to have sitting around in my garage as i plan to do my A2 restricted test on my 17th birthday in a few months and get a bit bigger bike. ( Id rather let someone else have some fun with her.) And it could be a money maker so everybody wins. Anyways any help will be much appricated.

Thanks , Barney.

Surely if someone's quoted you for a job, they'd know whether or not they'd need to get the engine out?

Confused

Motor would only need to come out if the crank seals needed replacing (which is extremely unlikely). Output shaft, clutch pushrod and gearchange seals can all be carefully prised out and replaced without significant dismantling. Kickstart seal can require the clutch cover to come off, but not normally.

Not really sure why you're replacing the seals though, if you're getting shot of the bike. I doubt the leakage is major. Won't affect the running of the motor. I almost always have one or more seals leaking on mine Laughing

Yeah sorry forgot to add that it depends on weather it does need taking out or not , £40 if not , about £60 if it does need taking out. He isnt a garage just does some work for me occasionally. And i think i also forgot to mention that its the engine seals need replacing. Its been sitting round for a few years and they have sagged. Barney

Also 27 cows i think its the engine oil seals ive been told? do you know if that needs the engine taking out? Thanks

The bike doesnt run , it will start occasionally and has to be revved to keep it going , once let off the throttle it looses all power, bike also over-revs even when the engine is turned off it doesnt die straight away. Barney

Doesn't sound like a seals issue...but I could be wrong.

Engine will need to come out only to replace the crank seals. It's a rare event for them to fail on the RXS.
