I've recently come across a few of these lately and really like the look of them, plus the reviews seem very favourable. Thing is, I need a bike to commute on in all weathers about 100 miles a day. If I bought an older model - for example: Older Model
Assuming it's in reasonable condition and not rusting too much, would you trust this to do the job? £750 seems a pretty good deal, and nearly 30k miles doesn't seem to bad either. ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.
(7 year gap), BMW F650 (Relaxing ride). Aprilia Caponord ETV1000 (Big and bold). Yamaha FZS600 (got me in trouble too quick!).
Current: Yamaha TDM 900 (Comfy, light but big, power when needed). |

Bendy had a 600F back in the day (not as old as that 'un though - maybe 2001ish). It seemed pretty bulletproof as far as i recall (apart from when she decided to part company with it whilst on the move obviously ).
oops - hers was a cbr. Should know better not to scan posts - apologies. ____________________ Mellow Yellow

Yeah the other thing is it's a 19 year old bike which is why I'm a bit concerned. ( ).
But for £750 I could be getting a bit of a bargain!
I'm torn because then there's 9/10 year old examples with 15-20k on them for £1.5k, with the obvious benefits of a much newer bike for twice the price... ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.

My first big 4-stroke was a 600 teapot, and I loved it. It went, stopped and handled fine, not cutting edge in any department, but good enough to have plenty of fun on. In the time I had it (3 years - ish) it cost me nowt but routine basic maintenance (oil & filters, etc), and if I'm honest the looks didn't bother me much.
It was still attractive enough for some git to steal it!
The Mrs currently has the 750 version of the newer one, and she loves it. Whether it's mile after mile with tons of luggage on, or hooning around on a sunny weekend ride it seems to do it all well. They're a lot of bike for the money asked IMO. ____________________ I was only doing what it said on my licence officer....

Yeah I was looking at the 750 too, it'd be £20 more to insure comp a year than the 600 though! (£211 total inc breakdown ).
I'll have to keep an eye out and maybe try one out for size! ____________________ Previous: Aprilia Habana Retro 50cc (beauty), Yamaha SR125 (fell apart), Honda XR125 (nippy little commuter), Honda SLR650 (Geewhizz), Yamaha Diversion 900S (Smoooooth) written off courtesy of a stupid escaped horse.
