My Nsr125 splutters at around 6000 revs like its experiencing some sort of fuel problem, you can pull through this and the bike picks back up to normal at about 7500. Low revs are fine it doesnt struggle to start or turn over...The other thing it is doing now is the rev clock has a mind of its own, it works but when you blip the throttle is has difficulty in deciding where it quite wants to be and kind of pulses up and back. I know the ignitions on these old NSR's can be prone to erosion but I have a concern it could be something to do with the CDI. Originally i thought it could have been an issue with the power valve but now im not that convinced! Any ideas, If it is the ignition then i dont want to start with replacing the CDI and finding out its not that, besides it finding one that you know is ok! Any help or USEFUL advice that is relevent to my problem then it would most appreciated

Possibly the powevalve isn't working and is stuck open?

I have at those revs and incredibly bad flat spot, this is because the powervalve is stuck either open or closed. If i close it then the problem goes away. So possibly yours stuck open?

your symptom shows a loose contact on the ignition (wire black/yellow) . you should clean all terminals (coil, cdi, revcounter) where the black/yellow is present . oxyde is your enemy

I expect its more likely the oxide problem then the power valve as ive had the whole engine stripped and rebuilt including the power valve!

The bikes been in the garage for 5 yrs so its had plenty of time to erode!

Alains im on it as soon as i turn the comp off thank you!!

This does not explain the issue with the rev counter.

Rev counters work by your ignition system pulse so I second alains advice alains advice. Make sure the connectors are not loose either, but corrosion is probably the culprit.

Let us know how you get on there mate. Thumbs Up
