So yeah, you lot know I sold my ZXR400 for 1500. Looked at a CBR600FS today, got insured, handed over 900 quid and rode home. All is well. Chat to the lads about going to the piper. We set off. All is well. I've had the bike less than 3hrs and my mate had to pull me out a hedge. Lols. No damage to me or the bike. No need for amberlamps. I now know that a CBR600FS doesnt corner like a ZXR400. W00p.

i thought you were generally meant to upgrade to a better bike Laughing

also im fairly certain insurers dont pay out claims if it happens so close to the time you took out the policy or something like that so your kinda lucky.

Well I've owned a CBR600FS and I've ridden a ZXR400 and I'm not sure the latter handled any better really. Obviously the ZXR I rode could have been knackered but that's kind of the point I'm making. I think you should check over the condition of the suspension and tyres of your CBR because I doubt the difference in handling is that great. It might just be more to do with confidence, the ZXR I rode felt very different to my CBR in the way it leant into corners.

How did you crash? Just understeered off the road?

I expect the CBR even in a semi shagged state is faar better than you are.

I suspect a failure of rider rather than machine.

Target fixation?

Look at that nice bush (as in plant), if it was the other kind of bush you could forgive him Laughing

Or was it panic and you grabbed at the front brake?

Lol, why would you get a 95? 96 was the first year with 100bhp and ram-air Cool

Check your tyre pressures, makes a massive difference on the steely. 36 front, 42 rear Thumbs Up

Cheers bonny

Ill do that today.

Its proper wierd haveing a completely different riding posistion compared to the zxr. feel alot more "on" rather than "in"

Also, at what angle do people have their leavers in relation to "horizontal from the bars"

If it's an FS it has ram-air and floating discs and all the other stuff but with a tubular steel grabrail rather than a flattened alloy one.

Assuming you went into the corner at a speed your ZXR would have got round it at (rather than just going in too hot anyway) it sounds like the crash happened because you weren't used to the bike yet and didn't trust it to lean far enough.

I very much doubt you were at a speed at which the ZXR could make it but the CBR couldn't (assuming similarly decent tyres). You just need to take it easier until you're used to it.

Yeah, just get used to it, they handle pretty well.

Everyone talks about these older CBRs like they're sports tourers that can barely get around a corner just because they're a bit less extreme. I think people forget this bike won it's class in the IOM TT every single year in the 90s Cool
