erlyer today i had my bike taken from me dt 125 just baught it from a guy in sidmouh it has been stored at mt garage the last week i thought i would push it to my house to start work restoring it whem on the way i get stoped askes my name etc then says thay are taking it becuse it aint got insurance and insits that i need insurance to push it i wasent even on the road wtf also says i cant get it back untill i get insurance for it ??? were do i stand any one had this problem before ?

If you are pushing the bike on a pavement or public highway it needs insurance, MOT and tax I believe!

Technically yes you do need insurance for it. Even if pushing it on the pavement as it is still part of the road.
Buy the insurance, get the bike back then cancel the insurance within the cooling off period and get your money back.

When I were a lad we used to push our bikes down to some fields near me (although in them days you did actually ask the farmer for permission to ride on them).

We got pulled a couple of times and were told to legally push it without insurance etc it had to have no chain on. I suppose it makes sense as you can't ride it. To be fair they just let us on our way when they realised we weren't knobs causing a nuisance.

However this doesnt help the OP, but it doesn't look like he helped himself really.
