Hi Everyone, I am looking at buying a 400cc Bandit, seems like an ok bike but the owner says it has a minor flat spot 4500-6000rpm. I am pretty sure it is the VVT model and was wondering if anyone had experience with these bikes cos it's about 500miles away!! So I can't really check it out beforehand!! What I was really wondering is, does the flat spot mean there is a problem with the VVT? I know this is bugger all info to go on, but any advice would be awesome.

If it has a red cam cover it is the VVT model (or someone has painted the cam cover red.)

As has been said, the VVT gubbins comes in at around 8,000 so I would say more likely to be carbs. I loved mine at the time but the finish on them isn't too great compared to my 650 Honda Bros.

I make you right Laughing I remember the shock I had when I removed my rear wheel for the first time and was greeted with the mess that was supposed to be my suspension linkage and swing arm Shocked. That said, if you find one thats been looked after and is in good nick, as long as you continue to look after it/clean it/ACF-15 it, it will be fine. So on that note, don't buy one in rough condition, it will only get worse.
