Is it a good oil to run for the 2 stroke pit bike?

I'll be running it pre-mix now it's a track tool. So mixing up in a Jerry can, and filling up from there.

Castrol R40 obviously gives the MotoGP aroma. But is it actually a good oil to be running on?

I tend to use A747, which I believe has now been replaced by XR77 - however only spend that much for fairly highly tuned engines (ie polini minimoto, EXC200, 350 enduro and will use the same in my Beta, though suspect it's less of an issue there.)
Not sure the state of tune of yours, but I wouldn't spend lots unless it's making decently more power than a stock road one - not that I know if it makes a difference either way though, I should point out!

Would I be right in saying that it is one of the few oils that does NOT mix well with mineral based oils and as such, all traces of mineral oil should be removed from the fuel system before changing onto it?

Hi

Stinkwheel is right I think. It will react badly with conventional mineral oils.

But the smell is possibly worth the hassle.

All the best

That's certainly what the blurb claims on the castrol site etc - some suggest flushing the engine between changing oils.

The engine is currently a pile of parts. So having it clean isn't an issue.
Just wanna know if it's suitable to use as a 2 stroke substitute really.

I can get it quite cheap. Between £6 and £8 per litre. So if it's good. I'll use it. Smile
