I have a gsxr 1k and want to go away for a week. I have a budget of about £1k. I don't know anyone who has a bike and/or money to come along too.

Accomodation - keep in mind I have a sportsbike so tent and camping gear would be a pain - also would be paranoid of people nicking stuff if I set up camp them went for a ride without my stuff.

Reckon abroad would be best but could be tempted to stay in UK - however I live on the south coast, so weather may be an issue (as most destinations are north of me).

Any suggestions on where I can go and what to do?

Book a cheap b&b or two (if you want to move half way through the week) and base yourself there. No camping required, leave your stuff all day, job done. Go out exploring for the day in a different direction each time and you'd easily fill a week if you just wanna ride nice roads rather than go anywhere specific.

Abroard or not, up to you. Don't really see what the weather's got to do with it as it rains in Europe too.

That time frame and budget is perfect for visiting the south or France. Stay somewhere like Nice or Antibes and go and discover Monaco and Cannes.

Menton, not far from there is a beautiful little town too.

Put 50€ on black for me at the Casino de Monte Carlo

Go YHA.org that way you can use their facilities (fully equipped kitchen, usually a bike shed, gardens, games room, restaurant if you don't want to do self catering, dorm rooms). Idea CHEAP!!

I've booked the week after next off and plan to go away in UK for a couple of days as a "practise run". Have joined the YHA and got a rack for the bike. Going to IKEA (Essex) tomorrow with the mrs and kids Rolling Eyes so I'll have a quick look round Decathalon at the tents.

Hope to get away to the continent in July or August (mrs and kids permiting Thumbs Up ) - September too far away but thanks anyway John933 Thumbs Up

See other thread "Touring - does bike type change your plans".

Also I know I said "tent and camping gear would be a pain" but people on this forum have talked me round (but am still paranoid of people nicking stuff).

Off somewhere in UK week after next Dance!

Hi, Why not head down to the Central Massif in France some exceptional roads to ride down here check my signature for routes etc, If you are on your own then why not stay at a Biker only B&B which will mostlikely have like minded riders staying there so good company and companions on rides.

You would be surprised the number of solo riders who turn up for a few days riding down here and leave after a few days good riding and made some good friends whilst they are here.

Don;t be put off by riding or touring alone it allows you to be open and meet other riders as sometimes being in a group blinkers you Wink
