As per title, I'm being bit repeatably by the touring bug. Cool

I've been touring before on a '79 CB750 which was to Germany with my brother, but this year i fancy going to the Lake District and then later in the year, further out, peak district maybe or even scotland if i fancy a real long ride. Wink

Bonus is that my missus fancies coming along, bit strange as i've never taken all the gear and a pillion but hell why not.

Now heres the thing, im in the process of selling my current bike which is a Suzuki GS450e, and a while ago i brought some Sigma (Krauser replica) panniers, with a 'universal' rack that came off a Honda CB550. Turns out it dont fit the GS, so much for universal, i assume it would be universal amongst Hondas though.

Now i've always been a Honda man, brought the suzuki as i needed a commuter for work, now that job has ended I want to sell it and buy another Honda, question is, what bike?

I want it to be/have a kickstart, aircooled engine, and 12v preferably.

I would also like it Under £500.
Very Happy

Yes its possible as i always buy my bikes for this sort of money, i imagine i will end up with an Superdream 400, or similar, perhaps even a CG. Question is would they be comfortable and tough enough to handle 2up, plus gear, luggage, topbox etc?
What bike would you recommend?

Also I have brought a few cheapie bits from Poundland whilst they had the camping bits in... but would like to buy a tent, cheap as possible without losing quality (yes that IS possible) so Gelerts/Vango.

Depending on the bike, not bothered about the weight, as long as i can put it up by myself (probably be on my own, if not then the missus probably wont be much help anyway Rolling Eyes Laughing )

Anyway, small list of stuff i need, feel free to make me a decent checklist of stuff i should take if needed as last time we went touring we split the stuff over 2 bikes.

Stuff i want to buy:

Sleeping bags (All Season?)
Tent (3 Man?)

Right, have decided that it would be extremely cool, more rewarding and probably 'epic' to do all this touring on a old CG125.
Should pick the new bike up early this week and already ride it about 80 miles home so good times.

Still need a decent tent (was going to get a Slummit but they have sold out..)

I fancy getting one of those ancient traingular tents (sorry forgot the proper name) remembering the good old Scout days and how reliable they were.

Not too clued up on Sleeping bags? i assume a winter one would suffice and if its too hot, then open it up and use it as a blanket? Thumbs Up
