I have a FZS 6 02 - I have noticed the revs slipping in low gears then the other day get this...

The speedo synchonised sometimes with the tachyometer! Flipping up and down then going back to normal. WTF?

Does that mean I need to replace some fuses or something? Im thinking of replacing the clutch but my friends are saying it has only done 30000 miles on the clock, you dont need to replace it yet blah blah blah... also it doesnt seem to accelerate as fast as it used to coming out of first gear, sounds a bit rattlely.

So yeah, should I paint it red a yellow and sell it to the circus or what do you recommend?

Cheers!

what do you mean by that?

When in low gears 2 or 3 and Im opening up the throttle the revs are slow to increase and then slip by going right up and then down. Do I have to replace all the clutch plates?

does it always stop in the same place?

From what I remember yes, but I have only noticed it doing it once. I take it they both use the same rotor?

a common sign of the speedo drive starting to fail, is an erratic reading.

if you have a look down on the left hand side of the front wheel, at the circle thing between the fork leg and the rim, theres a black cable coming out, make sure the disc hasnt cut through the cable.

if theres no cable damage, it might be the rotor part, which sits inside. with all the epic potholes / fail on the roads, they can shatter ( as mine did last month ) if you take the front spindle out, and pull the wheel down, the sendor + rotor will come loose and you can remove them. if the rotors cracked, a new one is £16 from yamaha. the sendors go on ebay for about 15 quid.

Many thanks for the information!
