I found the other day that my bike wouldn't go into neutral, came on here and saw that adjusting my clutch cable would help, did so and it was perfect again, however I realised the clutch cable was very badly frayed, so I ordered a new one straight away.

Anyway a month or so ago when I had my spill the clutch lever bracket was broken and wouldn't let the clutch be pulled in, so the garage fitted a new one for me.

Today when I was trying to pull the cable out of the clutch lever, the threaded bit of the bracket that the cable screws into just fell off, obviously a little too much force and the cable just pulled straight through it.

Finished fitting the new cable anyway and it all works fine if a little wonky where the cable is not held in properly. I need this bike running as it's my only transport so can't leave it while a new lever comes, and don't want to spend more money on another lever!

So what I've done is pull the cable straight and screw the lockring tight in to hold it there as much as possible, then gaffa taped the broken bit back on to atleast give it a full circle of thread to hold it in? I figured if the bracket was made of cheese anyway, fixing it with gaffa tape can only be an improvement?

What do you guys think? Will there be sufficient force on the bracket at any point to pull the cable out?

Thanks for reading, God I'm a waffler!

Good call on the cable ties! Got loads in the garage, will put one on and keep some under the seat!
