im due for a new rear on my fj1200 but im undecided what to do. at the minute there are a pair of avon road riders on there, crossply 120/70 17'' on the front and a 150/80 16''. i know that you cannot mix crossply with radial. but i really prefer the advantages and feel of a radial tyre. what are my options? i know that some people go to all the trouble of putting exup wheels on these things but it seems like a lot of hassle. unless there was a 17'' rear wheel that bolts straight on? ie xjr?

No easy fit for a 17"

I ran AV45/46 Azaros on my FJ1200 and loved em. Much better than the BT45s they replaced.

According to Phil Hacker of the FJ owners club, crossplies are a better choice than radials because of the narrow rim widths on FJs.

Having said that, I always ran Michelin radials on my two FJs.

Phil Hacker has a pathalogical hatred of Radials, so his comments on tyres should be taken with a pinch of salt.

Did a very good job doing the shims on my 3CV however and can recommend the services of the FJOC. Even invited me into his house for a cup of tea whilst he went for lunch.
