Out of all the 125 2 strokes which one would you rather have,

Cagiva Mito, Aprilia RS 125 or a Honda NSR 125.

The Aprillia is the fastest and the best handling bike

The NSR is the nicest looking and the most reliable,

Wots the Mito 4? Its just stuck in the middle 4 people with no taste or style and dont think they could handle the power of the Aprillia!!!

If the aprilia is the best handling why did I beat one on your nsr through a set of tight bends.

Well i would have to say I'd go for the NSR not the quickest not the prettiest but I liked it. Never had much of a problem with mine. If i really wanted a 125 two stroke it would have to be the Honda RS125 you can pick them up for about 4k and they are really sweet bikes

Hi

Can I have the one fitted with an extra cylinder and bored out to 500cc, and called a Bimota V Due

Hopefully they will be selling some soon with the injection either sorted out or replaced with carbs (they have 200 odd in the factory, plus the parts to build another 200 odd, guess why they went bust!).

All the best

Keith

Didn't Bimota die a while ago? Always liked the idea of the VDue though.

Tony I think you have some sort of obsession with NSR's and don't give a damn about anything else. Can you agree with me that all three of these bikes have there advantages and disadvantages.

Hi

Bimota died about 18 months ago, but closed there doors less than a year ago (were still shipping spare parts and the like). As of December they have been bought, and will hopefully be back in production soon. Probably just be the SB8 at first though.

Hopefully they can do some truly new bikes. How about a YB12 based on an R1, say with a weight of 160kg? Should manage it as the Dieci managed to weigh only 185kg, for a 1000cc bike designed in about 1990.

I would love a Tesi, but chatting to an owner he said a full service is 35 hours work (basically drop the engine out to do the cam belts). Fairly certain I cannot afford that. The Japanese market Tesi 1DJ could be a bit easier as that used the 400SS engine (ie, only 2 valves per cylinder) and I am fairly sure you could slot the 600SS engine in easily if not the 750 or 900.

Down side is the V Due is the only 2 stroke road bike they made

All the best

Keith

I would probably got a Mito if the build quality was a bit better...i'll never be able to afford a proper ducati so that would have been my next best option, but NSRs arn't a bad second choice :)

The build quality isnt as bad as it is made up to be because my mate owns one and he dives everywhere like the damn things stolen and the piston ceased 14 months after he had bought it. The only other problem he's had with it is a faulty starter moter relay.

I did think about the sachs as an alternative to the NSR and RS until i got close to one at the NEC show. Really cheap-looking build quality (you could get a fingernail into the gap between the two halves of the fairing). there is info out there and from what I remember reading it's a good bike to ride, if visciously uncomfortable, even compared with a Mito or RS. the upsied is it look like more of a pukka GP bike than NSR, RS or Mito. someone around here (Leamington) has one (i've seen it out and about). there are a couple of road tests on the net, but they're in german...

Hi

Bimota got most of them back (offered the owners an SB7 as a straight swap I think). There are still a few around, but mainly collectors bikes. There is also apparently one fully sorted road bike around, which was the prototype for the revised series.

The original bikes used a direct fuel injection system. Basically this relied on the fuel from the injector hitting the piston, and it only worked properly when the piston was in the correct position which would only happen at particular revs. It landed up with a narrow and extremely visious power band. Stories that in a few countries the bike scared the homologation testers silly.

Still fancy one though, but only if I could get spare parts. If they floh them off with no warrenty but a spares backup up would seriously consider it.

All the best

Keith
