I have brought a bike as a project a while a go.

Its not finished yet thus not taxed, MOTed nor insured.
I just noticed that there is a spelling misstake in my surname on a logbook.

What do i do now? Do i call them or send them a letter ?

How long will it take for DVLA to sort it out, and send ma a new logbook?

Can I still tax it?

Should be able to tax it on line easy enough if it is insured and MOTd. Jobsworth in a Post Office might be a bit more picky but registered keeper does not equal owner so it shouldn't be a problem.

If you just fill in your name correctly but don't check the "New Keeper" box on your V5 (maybe pop a note in explaining that you've noticed a typo) then they should just change it for you. I'd imagine they'll turn it round about as fast as when the owner changes - i.e. a week or two.

Suitably amused at the spelling mistake in 'spelling misstake'.

Unless it's a really obvious one, like your name is Smith and they've put Fotherington-Sorbet on it, I wouldn't worry about it. My surname is wrong on at least 50% of things and no-one ever notices.

Anyone can tax it, it doesn't have to be the owner or the keeper, just someone who hands over the appropriate documents and the money.

I picked up a bike for a bloke mate of mine.

V5 turned up 2 weeks late stating his name to be Miss Christopher Harland.

Lol. Laughing

Ring up the DVLA, and see what they say. Should be pretty easy to change to be honest.

Recently sent my V5 off to the DVLA to correct a mistake in the VIN, took them exactly 4 weeks to send it back to me.

Put you details in there and it tells you what to do Very Happy

Don't worry about it, they've had my bike down as purple since it was painted, and some MOT certificates rightly state pink, though others state purple, when actually the main colour is indeed pink.
