hey up to you all basically ive got a little crm125 jus had the head gasket changed over running fine and dandy. Took the bike for its first bigish ride since, got to leicester from northampton with no problems, started her up for the way home and was all fine but pulled over to get petrol and bit of air in the tyres last night, and then restarted her up all fine for 10 or so seconds then a massive bang like a gun shot and the engine cut out straight away, after a few kicks to turn it back over again there was not much life then it did finally start and the engine rev'ed up to 10k with out throttle and felt like was lacking in power when on the move and keep losing power for split seconds constantly so though best to jus pull over and get it picked up, first thoughts is carb blocked? and due to the over powering smell of petrol but no leaks anywhere.

sorry for the essay any ideas?

cheers maull

My first thought is an air leak between the carb and the engine. Check the inlet rubber to make sure it isn't split, the carb is fully pushed into it, and it's not loose at the engine end.

overpowering stench of petrol would indicate flooding. Get your carb off, dismantle and clean.

rubber looks a bit cracked and generally poor condition will change that over and give the carb a good cleaning,

if any one else can confirm this or any other surgestions be great.

cheers,
alex
