check the springs...i had a similar problem with my bike..i grinded them a lil from each side with a die grinder and no it hasn't snapped off and still still going strong after an year also  ____________________ Don't break the speed limit, Just multiply it by 10 times and you will be fine  |

As said, just needs a clean out and re-grease. Brake cleaner and kitchen paper are good for the drum. Roughen up the shoe surfaces as well. Also remove, clean and grease the cam in there as they do seize up if you neglect them. I use lithium grease on the cam where it rotates in the plate and copper grease on the part that is in contact with the brake shoes and also on the pivot opposite.  ____________________ CBT February 2008 | A2 June 2008 | Yamaha YBR125 (written off) | Honda CBF125 (current) |

The Haynes manual, although great, lacks detail with regards to the rear brake plate assembly (how the cam fits etc) but the official Yamaha service manual for the bike is more thorough (I use both in conjunction with each other as Haynes tends to be more descriptive of how/why you do things whilst the Yam book is very to the point and 'instructive' but with little explanation of technique etc.
