Wierdest starting problem :|

Hey,
So lately the bike has been getting harder and harder to start on the electric starter.
It started about a week or so ago, i would have to try 2-3 times at first, then 3-4 and now the bike dosnt want to start atall period when cold (but will fire first time when warm?!).

Sooo, just to make things even more obscure, after giving up trying to start with with the electric starter i discovered that the bike will happily start on the first compression when bump starting...

To me this makes no sense atall...
The starter Is going jst as fast/strong as before,
I bump start the bike in first so its not turning over very fast atall (walking pace),
If it were electrical problems i would have expected the starter to not turn over (or it not start when bumping)...

Any thoughts would be much appreicated.

if it is the battery, could start by sounding like its turning over the same speed, but not having enough to power the ignition and the starter, easy to test stick it on a charger overnight.

Had a similar problem, sounds like your battery has lost charge/dead. Use a trickle charger or something to charge it up with overnight and see if there is any improvement.

sounds stupid but try changing the plug/plugs. i had the opposite problem with my bike, it would start cold great, but wouldnt start off the starter when it was warm.... went on the first bump though. hope that helps!!

cheer's for the input,
all superb suggestions, i didnt think about it from the having to crank it over and spark point of view, the lights certainly dim quiet a lot when its cranking over!

I tired a known good plug, same problems but left it in for a 40 mile round trip haha, damnit, should change it back

Will get the battery out tomorow and give it charge, electrics need a little looking at to, indicators are behaving a little irratically (wouldnt have thought they were related but both issues have turned up around the same time!). Further down the rabbit hole

Ps, i should probly mention i stopped off at my local honda place (fantastic guys there), whist chatting the lady said it sounded like it wasnt *catching*... I insisted it was certainly *catching* as the engine was turning over. It turns out apparently its something to do with the starter, more than just turning the engine over, i have no clue what she ment though so yeah... hmmm lol. Will try googling.

I think you need to check your charging circuit.
